We have a party crasher! lol. No, just fabulously late!
Meet Victoria Dahl!
Victoria Dahl lives with her family in a small town high in the mountains. During the summer she hikes and drinks margaritas (usually not at the same time). During the winter she likes to curl up with a book and a cup of hot cocoa and think about all those poor, freezing skiers working so hard out in the snow.
Beach or camping? Beach! Preferably a beach RESORT!
Bathing suit or mountain gear? Why? Um. Are you asking what I’d rather be seen in? Definitely mountain gear. Also, I live in the mountains, so you’re far more likely to see my hiking than lying on the beach. But if no one else is around and I’ve just gotten over a bout of the stomach flu that caused me to lose ten pounds? Definitely bathing suit.
Margaritas or Spritzers? (If you answer club soda, we’re gonna have to talk.) Margaritas!!!!
Please enter. Cabana boys are under that umbrella. We’ll even let you pick one to hold your shade…and your pen.
Where is one place you would love to spend the Summer? Why? I love the ocean, but I’m not a big fan of heat, so I’d love to spend the summer on the coast of the Northwest.
What is your ideal writing haven? Are there men or beach bunnies involved? My ideal writing haven is somewhere I can be alone. But I don’t want to cook for myself or anything crazy like that. So what I’d really love is a fancy cabin in a pine forest, overlooking the water and serviced by a nice resort that provides three meals a day. Yes. Yes, that would be perfect. Wait, can I win that here???
What season do you write best? And why? I love writing during the winter, because I get to send the kids to school, hole up in my house, and write! The neighbors never drop by during the winter!
Have you ever been on a writer’s retreat? What’s one embarrassing moment you’ve had? I’ve never been on a writer’s retreat! Maybe someday when my kids are older.
What inspires you to write during the summer? Um, not much. My kids are home, I’m feeling lazy and not a whole lot gets done, frankly. J
When plotting a book, what determines your setting and characters? In my contemporary books, I like to choose a setting I’m familiar with. So far, I’ve set books in Colorado and Virginia, which are both places I’ve lived. With historicals, I choose a local based on the feeling I want to evoke. An isolated, old castle on the east coast of England is a very different feel from a lively townhouse in London!
As for characters, all of my books start with an idea for one scene. Just one. In IT’S ALWAYS BEEN YOU, it was the moment when Aidan sees Kate for the first time in ten years. That’s the idea that started the book for me, and then I work back from there. Who are these people? Why is his reaction so visceral and heartbreaking? What happened to bring them to this place?
If you’re going on vacation, what items would I find in your bag? And why? My Kindle! Aside from clothes and shoes, etc., that’s the most important thing!
What is one thing you cannot live without during Summer? Okay, you can list two things…
Sangria and flipflops.
What are you working on right now? I’m starting a brand new contemporary book set in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
What news would you like to share with your readers? I have four books out in the next four months! I’m so excited! And a little overwhelmed.

A signed set of A LITTLE BIT WILD and IT’S ALWAYS BEEN YOU, books 1 & 2 in my historical York series
Once She Slipped Through His Fingers. . .
Aidan York has spent ten years mourning the woman he once loved and lost. He’s filled the void in the only way he knows—by distracting himself with wild behavior and scandalous trysts. It’s a hollow existence, but it dulls the pain. Until the day he encounters a ghost: the woman he thought drowned at sea, alive and as enchanting as ever.
Now He’ll Keep Her In His Arms. . .
When Kate Hamilton sees the man she once hoped to spend her life with, she is hit with a storm of memories and longing. But though resisting Aidan’s passion proves impossible, Kate must try not to love him all over again. For her seemingly quiet London life shields a dangerous secret, one that will catch up to her the moment she lets herself fall. . .
