Sizzling PR
Meet Marissa Dobson!
CEO of Sizzling PR!
Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, I now reside about an hour from Washington, D.C. I am a lady who likes to keep busy, and am always busy doing something. With two different college degrees, I believe you are never done learning.
Being the first daughter to an avid reader, this gave me the advantage of learning to read at a young age. Since learning to read I have always had my nose in a book.
I have been in publishing for a number of years in many different capabilities, marketing, public relations, editor, assistant, and author. During this time I have learned the value of good marketing and PR. I opened Sizzling PR to provide the duties I have done for publishers to all authors.
First question:
Eggnog or Mimosas? Are you old enough to drink?
Who says you have to pick. Can’t you have both? Okay if I have to pick it would be Mimosas because you need the alcohol to get through the holidays. J
We’re also taking pictures with Santa. Please enter. Drinks are served by the elves in the corner.
What’s your favorite holiday and why? Christmas time is my favorite. I love all the lights, and being around family that you haven’t seen all year (probably because they drive you crazy).
Did you ask Santa for anything good? More hours in the day. LOL. But I am not sure he has enough magic for that one. So I’ll be happy with my new pink laptop from my husband. It is something I needed. It has more memory, speed, etc. than my last one and since I am always on it that is perfect.
What’s your favorite place to spend the holidays? With family or somewhere beautiful. Either up in the mountains with lots of snow, or at the beach where I can have an amazing view. I am easy to please.
What is your favorite Christmas memory? The first Christmas that my husband and I were married, surrounded by family and friends. It seemed like I finally had that large family I always wanted.
Do you have personal resolutions for the New Years? Anything interesting? Nothing to interesting. I am learning a few new things in the publishing world, such as how to make book covers, formatting, etc. so I can expand Sizzling PR a little and help more of my self-publishing clients.
So…I heard you’re a marketing and review coordinator! What do you specifically do? Yes I am the marketing and review coordinator at Breathless Press as well. I handle a little bit of everything. Send out books for review, let the authors know about reviews, set up book tours, look for promotional opportunities for Breathless Press, and the authors, and so much more.
How did Sizzling Book PR start? What inspired you to work with books? I have been working in marketing and public relations for some time now but it has always been with a publisher. I have had different authors come to me and ask to be pointed in the right direction when it comes to marketing/PR and it hit me that I could start a business such as Sizzling PR and provide that help to everyone. It didn’t matter what publisher they were at or if they self-published. When I started researching my idea for Sizzling PR I realized there were a number of places already like that but their fees were high. I wanted to keep my costs low to appeal to all authors, on every budget.
What other services does Sizzling provide? Sizzling PR provides a little bit of everything and is hoping to expand to other things in 2012. Currently the services Sizzling PR provides are…book tours, sending books out for review, newsletters, handling of social media pages such as facebook, twitter, etc.
What goals does your company have for the new upcoming year? The biggest goal is to expand and offer more for the self-publishing clients. Self-publishing has come a long way and I believe it is going to the future of publishing.
Any big projects for 2011? At Sizzling PR every author gets the same treatment no matter if you have 20 books under your belt and with a big house, or if you are a self-published author with your first book. You will get the same quality marketing and public relations. Therefore every project is a big project. We value our clients and will do our best to make sure you have a positive experience.
What news would you like to share with your readers? Sizzling PR will work with you on any budget to provide professional public relations. I can custom fit packages to fit your needs.

Thank you everyone for stopping by. Sorry I haven’t made it here before but you know how crazy the Holidays can be. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
Judi, Judi, Judi Santa didn’t bring me extra hours in the day but he did bring me an assistant. Somehow (it must be a Christmas miracle) but my husband has been helping me. Just little things but they count and help a lot.
Marilyn Legault, I’m jealous I have always wanted to live in Alaska.
Thank you Jennifer Probst, I do my best. I know authors are on a tight budget so anything I can do to help.
Tabitha Blake, we all start out as an aspiring author. Stick with it and you will make it. Good luck!
Fantasia Frog Designs, thank you. I wish you the same.
Joder and Cathy P I love my job and wouldn’t change it for anything. It is hard work but it is worth it.
I hope everyone will enjoy the rest of the holiday season.
