Gabriella Hewitt

Meet Gabriella Hewitt!

Gabriella Hewitt is the pen name of creative writing talents Sasha Tomaszycki and Patrizia M.J. Hayashi. Together they weave tales of romantic suspense and dangerously sensual paranormals. Check out the website to find out about upcoming releases and events

First question:

Eggnog or Mimosas? Are you old enough to drink?

Eggnog — Puerto Rican Style! Coquitos all around. Let’s get our rum punch on!

We’re also taking pictures with Santa, did you bring a gift for him? (Maybe a new release or a pretty book cover…)

Doesn’t every princess deserve a prince charming and their happily ever after?

Obviously not for Cuban-American Princess, Rosario Garcia, the eldest daughter of the Jersey City werewolves. The last minute thrown together gaudy nightmare was not how she pictured her wedding day and Rosario is not taking kindly to the forced marriage to the arrogant alpha wolf of Hoboken, NJ. Unfortunately, her choices are limited and the marriage necessary to unite the warring clans, but that can all change if she finds her missing uncle and fourteen million dollars. What’s a girl to do?

She has three choices:
1) Run-away and join the circus
2) Sell her kidney and other unnecessary body parts to raise millions of dollars
3) Call upon her fairy-godmother

When Rosario accepts the antique ceremonial dagger from her crazy, drunken fairy-godmother, Madrina Hady, as a wedding gift, she never in her wildest dreams figured it would be the key to escaping her impending wedding. Only now she is trapped in fairyland with Prince Charming! Normally she wouldn’t complain but he has declared war on werewolves and if she is not careful, she’ll end up in the dungeons too. Will she be able to solve the mystery behind her missing uncle and find a way out of fairyland to get back in time to stop her own clans from warring? Or will she be Charmed Ever After by Prince Charming?

Please enter. Drinks are served by the elves in the corner.

What’s your favorite holiday and why?

Patrizia: Favorite holiday is Christmas. Love the feeling of having time for the family and taking a break from the crazy daily grind of work and getting the kids out the door for school. Love the decorations, the carols and the holiday spirit.

Sasha: This is why we work so well together. Great minds think alike. Ditto!

Did you ask Santa for anything good?

Patrizia: Bought myself a Kindle cover, custom made with a strap so that I can hold it. Can’t wait to try it out. I always go overboard loading up on books. I’ll probably be buying lots of Kindle books over the holiday. Also, got a new handbag.

Sasha: An Amazon gift card fully loaded!

What’s your favorite place to spend the holidays?

Patrizia: It’s been a long time since I’ve experienced a white Christmas. I want the whole shebang—a fireplace, mugs of hot cocoa, and Christmas music in the background, while outside the snowflakes fall.

Sasha: Preferably some place tropical and warm but this year I’m opting for a winter wonderland. I’m going skiing with the family this year in Virginia at Massanutten, so it will definitely be a white Christmas for me. Then after hitting the slopes you can catch me drinking hot cocoa by the fireside and reading books on my Kindle.

What is your favorite Christmas memory?

Patrizia: It’s really hard to pick a favorite Christmas memory. One memory that sticks with me to this day is one of my earliest. We were at my great-grandparents’ house. I must’ve been 3 or so. My great-grandpa had built a big house on a lake. The ground floor had a huge family room, dining room and kitchen. It also had a bar and behind the bar was a door to a wine cellar. On Christmas morning, my great-grandpa rang a little bell. The door opened and a bicycle with training wheels came rolling out. I will swear to this day that no one was riding it. It magically pedaled out from the bar and over to me. Christmas is about magic and believing in what doesn’t seem possible. My great grandfather passed away shortly after but he gave me a very precious gift.

Sasha: My best Christmas memory is being a teenager and going out to spend my hard earned money on gifts for my family. It was just us four (Mom, Dad, Tiffy & I) that year but it was the most fun and happiest one I can remember. We all gave each other a seriously ridiculous Christmas sweater because nothing says, “I love you” like an ugly sweater. HEHE

Why do you write romance?

Romance is the ultimate journey that leads two people to forge an everlasting commitment between them. It’s about hope and courage, about laughter and pain. Best of all romance is found in just about any genre you touch. We like our romance served up with a dash of excitement, suspense and passion.

Are you a plotter or pantser? What is your routine?

Used to be a pantser but it became hard to figure out the next step, especially when you have two people writing long distance, so we switched over to outlining our stories first and pounding them out. Have to say it works better than telepathy.

One of us comes up with a brilliant idea. We pitch it to each other and the one that sticks we roll with it. We take about a week to figure out exactly the best angle for the story. Write up an outline. Then we hit it back and forth to each other via email every night, so the other one receives it in the morning and can work on it during the day. (Patrizia and I live in two different time zones so it works well). It takes approximately one month to bang out a new novella and three months for us to do a full novel.

Which Goddess Are You?

Which Goddess are you?

Hello! I am so happy to be back at Romance Author Hotspot. Next week, OUT OF THE SHADOWS releases from Samhain Publishing, a sensual contemporary spin on Aztec lore featuring hot warriors and women with elemental powers. Even more interesting are some of the goddesses that are featured in the Shadow warrior series.

Complex, multifaceted, women come in all shapes and sizes, colors, creeds and temperaments. Overall, women are amazing and so are the Goddesses in Aztec folklore.

There is an Aztec Goddess in all of us.

Today I am asking the question:

Which goddess are you? Leave a comment and be entered into the OUT OF THE SHADOWS blog tour contest. One lucky winner randomly chosen at the end of the tour will receive a $25.oo Amazon Gift Certificate.  See for official rules.

Aztec Name: Chalchiuhtlicue

Alias: Woman of the Jade Skirt / Lady Precious Green Stone Skirt

Appearance:  She is depicted with water-lilies, dressed in watery blues and greens, and sometimes has quetzal-feathers in her hair.

Relation to God: She is the elder sister to Tlaloc, the rain god.

Powers: Goddess of running water, springs, rivers and lakes, she is a fluid woman and can move with the flow. She has a green thumb and brings fertility to crops. She is kind and noble and loves humanity and pregnant women.

She can get a bit emotional and is prone to tears that cause floods and drought.

Aztec Name: Xochiquetzal

Alias: Beautiful like a flower

Appearance:  She had a retinue of birds and general lovey-doveyness that followed her around like a sweet scent.

Relation to Gods: She is the twin sister of Xochipilli, the male god of sexuality. She was kidnapped by the underworld demon god, Xolotl and forced into marriage but later freed.

Powers: Goddess of love, flowers, dancing, games, and sex. A true romantic at heart, she adores men and chocolate, but don’t be fooled she is a fierce advocate of feminine power and women’s rights. She can be fickle with her lovers and is known for a voracious sexual appetite.

Aztec Name: Itzpapalotl

Alias: Obsidian Butterfly / Clawed Butterfly

Appearance:  A fearsome warrior with large moth wings, clawed hands, obsidian eyes and flowing black flaming hair. She can transform into a deer.

Relation to Gods: She is the mother of Mixcoatl, god of the hunt and stars.

Powers: Goddess of birds, stars and fire. She is the keeper of the celestial heavens. She likes order, control and being in charge. She is powerful and rules over her domain.  When she is upset, she rains down fire and lets her anger be known by sending tzitzimime (celestial demons) loose to punish those who disobey her.

Aztec Name: Toci/ Tlazolteotl

Alias: Heart of the Earth/ Grandmother/ Woman of Discord

Appearance:  An older woman, mature and lush of body. She is depicted with black markings around her mouth and nose, wearing a headdress of cotton spools.

Relation to Gods: She is the mother of the Gods.

Powers: Goddess of healing and curer of ailments, she is nurturing soul. She is a mothering type that loves children, doctors, nurses and midwives.  She detests filth and disease. She believes in purity, morality and cleanliness. She scorns infidelity and promiscuity. When she is upset she shakes the earth and curses people with STD’s but she is the forgiving kind and quickly makes amends to put everything back in balance.

As for me, I’m probably closer to Chica in temperament, though I don’t cause floods. At times, I am like Toci. I am a clean freak. But like XOXO, I do have a weakness for men and chocolate. Yum! On the other hand, talk to my husband and kids and they’d probably say I’m a chip off the Itza block. Don’t mess with me! LOL!

So, which Goddess are you?

Gabriella Hewitt – Excitement. Suspense. Passion

Meet Gabriella Hewitt!

Gabriella Hewitt is the pen name of creative writing talents Sasha Tomaszycki and Patrizia M.J. Hayashi. Together they weave tales of romantic suspense and dangerously sensual paranormals. Check out the website to find out about upcoming releases and events on their blog.

First Questions:

Beach or camping?

Beach! Give me sand in my shorts any day.

* frowns * Guess some people really like that… lol. Bathing suit or mountain gear? Why?

Bathing suit. Definitely a two-piece yellow polka dot number because I am still one hot looking mamí ;)

You’re brave! Margaritas or Spritzers? (If you answer club soda, we’re gonna have to talk.)

Margarita. Although I do prefer Mojito, heavy on the rum and mint.

Sounds good! Please enter. Cabana boys are under that umbrella. We’ll even let you pick one to hold your shade…and your pen.

Where is one place you would love to spend the Summer? Why?

That’s a tough one. Miami is my hotspot and I can be found on occasion there but if I could I would fly off to Puerto Rico in a heartbeat to bask in the sun, dip my toes in the sand and check out the hot chachos.

Hmm…What are chachos? Nevermind… What is your ideal writing haven? Are there men or beach bunnies involved?

A tropical rainforest complete with a waterfall, an internet connection and one wet hunk in  suntan oil and nothing else (for creative purposes, of course)

LOL. What inspires you to write during the summer?

Summers are so hot and sticky, it takes a lot of discipline to avoid heading off to the pool and all the BBQ’s.  I give myself an incentive to write a few pages a day by rewarding myself with a dip in the pool at night.

When plotting a book, what determines your setting and characters?

I love hot locations like Puerto Rico and the Sonora Desert, two places featured in my books. I find sizzling settings make for ideal storylines where the men have to take off their shirts.

What is one thing you cannot live without during Summer? Okay, you can list two things…

A spicy romance novel and a wine cooler. One makes me hot and the other cools me down.

Great combo! What are you working on right now?

Currently, I have finished up the next two stories in the Shadow Warrior series for Samhain and are plugging away at a new series based on Egyptian mythology. In October, I  will be working on the second novel for the ICE FILES series.

What news would you like to share with your readers?

The first book in the Shadow Warrior series, Out of the Shadows, releases August 16th!

Where can readers find you?

Dark Waters (ICE FILES) from Samhian Publishing

Will you be willing to answer questions in regards to writing and publication today?

Yes. I would be more than happy to answer questions.

Release Date: August 16, 2011

When the last shadow warrior falls, so will all humanity.

Shadow Warriors, Book 1

With each demon he vanquishes in service to the Aztec sun god, Tomás fulfills his duty to defend humankind—and surrenders another piece of his humanity to his wolf spirit. All hope seems lost until a mission leads him to the door of the one thing he thought he’d never find…his spirit mate. The only woman who can save him from oblivion.

When Carolina hears the wolf’s howl, it pierces the very core of her lonely heart. Yet she dare not answer. As the last guardian of her land and the secret it contains, she is haunted by the mistake that cost the lives of her family. Never will she repeat that mistake, especially with a warrior who is more beast than man.

Chasing away the demon is easier than breaching the barriers around the heart of the young woman who possesses a strange power over water—and his very soul. But if they are to survive the night, he must convince her they are destined to stand together.

Product Warnings: Contains a hero in a losing battle to control his inner beast and a heroine with the strength to tame him. Epic battles and dark secrets liberally spiced with destined love culminate in a fight for all humanity.

What’s in a Name?

It’s Blog Wednesday! And we have Ms. Gabriella Hewitt here to talk about names! Don’t be shy! Join in the fun! You actually might get a good chuckle.

What’s in a Name?

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”
– Shakespeare

Just like Romeo and Juliet, I am struggling with names right now. Finding the right name for a character is like finding jeans that fit. I agonize for days trying to find the perfect fit, trying on one pair after another. Some are too flamboyant, some too old-fashioned, some too ridiculous to contemplate and others too sappy that I have to wonder if they make my butt look big.

LOL. Comment! Share your names and enter to win a PDF copy of Gabriella’s Dark Waters!
